(go to above link to find original July, 2007 article).......hmmmmm.....wasn't that about year ago?!?...that notwithstanding....
To our Elders,.....much power and strength and respect and clarity to and for them all.
May they not repeat the many mistakes of the past for thinking that modernity and "what is" and "how we do" is what and the way it must be done. ANYone looking to solve these problems must have an eye on indigeny as it is the break from the indigenous mindset and practice that brought forth the depths of this debacle called modern life in the industrial, capitalist world.
Let us not quibble over whether they match up to the usamerican age for retirement, but hold them to the highest level of application of their hearts' and minds' technologies. Let us not say they are not yet enough when they haven't begun the fight in any substantial way. Yes, I am skeptical and cautious, but let's give them as much positive energy as they deserve and as they earn with their work.
Let us know that the very notion of their elderhood suggests that their younger sistren and brethren are responsible for doing the foot, hand and heartwork. IF they are able to provide any kind of leadership, it should be leadership of the people, not leadership of the capitalist structures that most of them have seemed to have been steeped in (pardon any glaring ignorances on my part).
I look to a group such as this for ideological and emotional and spiritual inspiration. No elite group can DO anything unless we give or acquiesce the power that resides ONLY in the mass of the people. Let them preside, but let the people work and know that it is them that moves mountains and will ultimately and continually make the real history of the world, but only as partners in Nature, partners on earth with all that is, swims, flies, walks, crawls and slithers and roots and sprouts.
Thank you, Gabriel and Branson. Thank you for having a good idea. Thank you, Elders, for having the will to move and the intention to do good in a world that sadly needs so much. But know, Elders, that the children of this Earth will not wait for you too long. We/they have done that far too long. That paradigm of waiting for singular executive leadership is over.
Elders, walk with US as we all move forward. We are listening...but not waiting.

Help

I heard about the elder's project when it was first launched, and found it so, so inspiring. I'm not sure what's happened since–whether it's been paused or whether the level of work they do is more subtle than the usual “newsworthy” sorts or whether I've just not been looking in the right places–but I'm glad at least that there's some attention. Thank you. :)
And thank you, Siona, for reminding me/us that the work may BE subtle and that is important as many very important things in nature happen in very subtle, beautiful, powerful ways. Thank YOU!
